HP inlet device

A semi-open pipe inlet device is an efficient and practical solution for oil and gas separators, providing optimum primary distribution of the gas-liquid flow. Manufactured from high-strength corrosion-resistant steels, the device withstands aggressive media and mechanical loads typical of oilfield and gas-field conditions.

Its operating principle is based on controlled expansion and redistribution of the flow: as the mixture passes through the semi-open pipe, its velocity decreases and the phase-contact area increases. This promotes rapid release of gas bubbles and gravitational settling of the liquid phase — the heavier fraction naturally descends to the bottom of the separator while the gas rises. The special shape of the pipe cut ensures uniform dispersion of the flow across the vessel cross-section, preventing stagnant zones and local overloads, which is critical for stable operation of the entire separation system.

The key advantages of the device are simple design, minimal hydraulic losses and high operating reliability. Unlike complex swirl or vane systems, the semi-open pipe has no moving parts and requires no regular maintenance. It operates effectively over a wide range of flow rates and mixture compositions, maintaining stable capacity even with elevated levels of mechanical impurities. This solution is ideal for first-stage oil and gas separators, providing a smooth transition to subsequent stages of deep purification and phase separation
