Sieve trays
A sieve tray is a type of contact device installed inside mass-transfer columns (distillation, absorption and stripping columns). Its main function is to provide intensive and efficient contact between two phases: rising vapour (or gas) and descending liquid.
Sieve trays are widely used in industry as economical mass-transfer devices where a wide operating range is not required.
