Bubble-cap trays

A bubble-cap tray is a type of contact device used in mass-transfer columns, in which vapour (or gas) passes through a liquid layer via special channels formed by the caps. It is one of the oldest and most reliable tray types and is known for its stability under varying operating conditions. Bubble-cap trays are generally used at low liquid loads and where the vapour-phase load in the column must vary over a very wide range. This type of tray is used where reliability, fouling resistance and operation under variable conditions are important.

Spliteks offers standard 3- and 4-inch bubble caps.

Fields of Application

Alcohol and alcoholic beverage production
Chemicals
Gas processing and petrochemicals
Oil refining and petrochemical industry
Pulp and paper making industry

Advantages

Wide operating range due to the leak-tight design. Effective operation at both high and low loads without the risk of weeping.
Resistance to fouling. Large flow passages are less prone to plugging than the small holes of sieve trays.
